How does it work?
The concept is simple. All members of our book clubs read the same book over the same period; members then meet up in our bookstore once a month to discuss the book and exchange views.
Every member’s view is welcomed, valued and heard. We start the conversation
around books – but it always leads to deeper readings and provides the foundation for meaningful connections in the island.
Book clubs are moderated by generous volunteers, and are free and open to the public.
How can I join your book clubs?
You are welcome to come to one or all groups and meetings. New members always welcome!
Registration is required for all book club events via Whatsapp (+34 871 04 77 95).
We have several Whatsapp groups dedicated to each club. Please, let us know if you want to join them and receive
immediate updates and possible change dates.
How do you choose the book club pick's?
Our criteria for book club picks typically include:
Interest level: The book should be intriguing to most members.
Genre variety: Our book clubs typically explore a range of genres and themes, and consider a mix of genres (fiction, non-fiction, mystery, etc.), in order to keep the selection diverse and spark
interest and lively discussions.
Discussion potential: We choose books with rich
material for discussion, whether through their themes, characters, or narratives. We also want to challenge our members to leave their reading comfort zones!
Length and complexity: We consider the reading time and difficulty level to accommodate all members.
Availability: In order to avoid stock or
distribution problems, we only choose readily available books.
What happens if I can't make it to every session?
No worries! We are flexible, and don't expect you to come to
every single meeting! Just let us know about your availability in your expression of interest.
Are the book clubs free?
We do not charge admission to book clubs, but we kindly ask you to support our bookstore and purchase your copies at La Salina (with special discounts for members!).
